"Disappointed"

About: The Tunbridge Wells Hospital

Anything else?

I currently work for the NHS but over the weekend I was admitted as a patient and was being "cared" for. I am absolutely disgusted with the care I received on 3/4 wards that I managed to visit on my short 5 day stay- not mentioning I could have had my problem dealt with on the first night and been home the next day! I was kept in the dark about my treatment and even now after having surgery I am unaware of what they have done as I have been told different things by lots of different people. I had a doctor come to me and tell me he was very sorry for keeping me nil by mouth for 3 days and still not operating and doubly sorry as he had just found out i worked there- as if that should make a difference. well i guess it didn't make a difference because still over 24hrs later they still hadn't operated- very sorry eh? i was given 1l of IV fluids over 21 hours and i had to be recalculated as my cannula was causing me pain. This took 11 attempts as i was so dehydrated and my vein kept collapsing. while these antics were taking place i had missed out on 2 IV antibiotics and also pain killers. i could go on about the care but I think you can get a good picture. And to top it all off they also tried discharging me after I came round from a general anaesthetic an hour an a half previously as they were short of beds- even though my observation showed very low blood pressure and my pulse rate was high. i stood my ground and stayed over night but i was woken at half past 7 by a very abrupt nurse telling me I was being discharged and a porter was on his way going to take me to the discharge lounge, I was offered no breakfast or pain killers. I left the hospital a little after 9am as I refused to leave after I had packed my own things and got dressed and brushed my hair. My auntie came to get me. None of the nurses said goodbye or wished me well or were even present when I left. I have left the hospital disgusted with the treatment I have received.
