"Misinformation in Psychiatric Notes"

About: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

On reading leaf269's brave internet account of his stay in Fulbourn, I wanted to express my support, but my own unhappy time there was too long ago (13 years).

However, more recent was my attempt to obtain, and then have corrected (gross sometimes) misinformation in my psychiatric notes.

Although a patient's legal right, obtaining complete photocopies of these notes was unpleasant, difficult, and slow, and when I eventually discovered who might correct them, it took a further 5 months, finally with intervention from PALS and then Medical Records, to get the matter addressed (a consultant's letter dated 8 March 2010). I provided some documentary evidence.

I am writing so you are aware of the situation others may be in.

Thank you for your feedback. I was please to read that the intervention from PALS and Medical Records was helpful in finding a resolution in your case. I would encourage you, or anyone in a similar situation, to contact the PALS Service if further help or assistance is needed.
