"Children not allowed to visit their father whilst in hospital"

About: Northern General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I went to the Northern General Hospital on 1st April 2008 because I had broken my leg. First of all I went to A & E and then on to Huntsman five. The medical care, the nursing care was excellent. It was clean and I was treated very well and received very good care. The only thing that I was not happy about, was the situation with my children visiting me.

I have four children who came to see me, they were really wanting to see their dad, it was not until they came on to the ward that a nurse informed me that they were not allowed to visit, due to the MRSA bug. Someone should have told me about this before. I was not happy and told the nurse that they would have to take me out of the ward in my bed, because I was going to see my children who had come to visit me. The nurse said that she would go and see someone about it, but, never came back. The children stayed the whole of the visiting time.
