"Treated for mental health problems over the years"

About: Eccleston Centre / CMHT OP St Helens

(as a service user),

I have been treated as an out patient with mental health problems for 9 years. i was falling over without reason, my balance was affected for 18 months, at the start of which i was referred to the eccleston centre for therapy, i was also appointed a psychiatrist, i thought i was going mad and was going to be locked up in an institution. the psychiatrist said i had severe anxiety, the down side of it is that he didn't know when i'd get better. although i am now recovering, i am living in fear of what happened to me 9 years ago.

Response from Dennis Dewar, PALS Co-ordinator, 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. It is good to hear that you are recovering and I hope that someone who is going through their first experience of mental health problems reads this and realises that, like you, people can and do recover from mental illness.

Good luck for the future.
