"high level of understanding and care!"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

What I liked

i have just come home from the hospital after emergency surgery and i would just like to say that all the staff on the gyno department and whippingham ward where brilliant the treated me with respect, dignity and great care, although this has been a traumatic time for myself they made it easier for me, thanks from myself and my husband

What could be improved

the only thing i didn't like was being woken up so early 6.30am lights on,lol!!

The staff enjoy experiencing positive feedback and this is a boost to everyone's morale. Thank you

Your comments have been shared with the Matron and Ward Sister who have advised that the main ward lights are turned on at 06:30 to commence patient care including observations, drug rounds and orientating patients into the day in preparation for the surgical doctors rounds and to give the patients a drink. The Matron and Ward Sister will remind the staff that sensitivity needs to be given to the early morning needs of the patients who may not have had a complete night’s sleep or remain unwell after surgery. The ward sister would like to apologise for the abruptness of the early morning lights and will advise staff to initially use the over head bed lights.
