What I liked

I was admitted to the emergency admissions ward in Sept. The ward was cleaned regularly by very cheerful and friendly cleaners.

Nurses and Doctors were informative and friendly and quickly put me at ease, sorted me out and passed me on for further investigation. I was diagnosed with Angina

After various tests in Dec. i had an Angiogram , I found myself under the care of a doctor and two nurses. I cannot speak highly enough of these wonderful people they were fantastic !!!

My experience with the Angiogram team was similar although nervous of the unknown, they put me completely at ease.

From start to finish I found all staff at the Hospital, receptionists, Secretary's, cleaners,nurses doctors, kind , friendly and caring.

What could be improved

I waited a long time from my discharge to my first investigation.

Initially staff did not know ,nor did I , who my consultant was, what I was there for but thanks to my doctor, events started to move.

I felt the systems were not very efficient.

Again Clinically I could not have wished for more

Anything else?

I had heard from many people that South Tyneside was a poor Hospital and to be honest I held that view myself, after a very poor experience there some years ago with my Wife.

My recent experience has shown me how wrong that view was and I am very happy to tell anyone who will listen how good and different South Tyneside Hospital is

I am pleased your experience on the whole was a very positive one and will forward your comments to the staff concerned. I note also your comments regarding some aspects of our communications and systems and I will share these with the staff in the unit in order that they can reflect on these.
