"Worst possible experience. Never again."

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

What I liked

Initial assessment was completed quickly

What could be improved

Staff attitude during inpatient stay following on from A&E visit. This was not just toward myself but to other patients in CDU2.

Anything else?

I would not ever recommend this hospital. In fact I would refuse to be treated here again. I recieved follow on treatment at Frimey Park Hospital which was the complete opposite - excellent, and with staff who seemed to care.

We sincerely apologise for your experience in CDU2. We strive hard to ensure patients are well cared for and involved in their care and of course patients should be nursed in same sex areas.

Unfortunately, due to winter pressures, we have had to change the staffing in CDU to make it into a fully operational 51 bedded ward which has left us with a high staff vacancy and currently we are using agency nurses to provide care, which fragments the team.

We are actively recruiting nurses to ensure the team is permanent and works well together to ensure a positive experience for patients.

The matron for the area has discussed your comments with the team and will try to ensure agency staff are integrated into the team and work to the standard that that is expected.

We will work harder to ensure that all staff work together and apologise for your experience.
