What I liked
I visited children's A&E late on Friday afternoon. It's fantastic that children waiting to be treated are kept entirely separate from the adult's area. We were seen by a nurse immediately, and treated and sent home within an hour and a half. The nurse gave us very clear instructions about how to manage the wound once we got home, and spoke to both me and my daughter in simple, reassuring terms that we could understand.
What could be improved
In an ideal world, the reception area for children would be separate from the adults.
The doctor who examined my daughter used some technical language that I had to ask to be explained. I wish she'd used simple language without technical jargon - having an injured child is frightening and it's important to make things simple and easy for worried parents.
Anything else?
It's never fun taking a child to hospital, but I was really impressed with the speed and warmth with which we were treated.
"Well done the Lister - excellent service in..."
