I was admitted to QEH last March for a microdiscectomy. I was told to go to the ward for 5 pm but on arrival I was told I could not be admitted as they were doing dinner/medical rounds. It would have saved me and my parents a lot of time if we were just told to come later.
In saying that, once admitted the treatment was second to none. My operation went well and I was re-assured all the way. I was fully informed about what the process would entail and the success rate of the operation I stayed in for 5 days -1 day extra as the consultant requested. I was looked after extremely well. One thing I was worried about before I was admitted was the cleanliness of the ward, but I was pleasantly surprised. The neurological ward was cleaned every day and I observed beds being stripped right down before a new patient arrived.
Overall I felt the staff (nurses etc.) were very pleasant; polite and helpful.
