"Still waiting for treatment after almost a year"

About: April House

(as the patient),

I was assessed and diagnosed with April House almost a year ago now, was told that the waiting list was 6-9 months and am still waiting for them to contact me regarding me starting some kind of treatment.

There is no other specialist help in my area for eating disorders on the NHS and I cannot afford private treatment and as my condition continues to change and get worse, I have no idea what to do. I am getting increasingly worried about my well-being.

I wish this service could be expanded for others in my situation. A lot can happen in 6 months, let alone 9 (or in my case, longer) and I think a service treating illnesses of this nature should be easier to access.

I also think that patients should be contacted every so often throughout the (lengthy) waiting process so that we know we have not been forgotten and are indeed still pending for treatment.

Thank you very much for highlighting your concerns regarding the length of time it is taking to be assessed at April House. Please also accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your concerns.

I would like to discuss this with you directly, to see how I can be of assistance and would appreciate it if you contacted me directly on 02380 874065 or via email on hp-tr.complaints@nhs.net.

Kind regards

Ben
