"Cannot access therapy if Mentall Ill"

About: Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

There is all this talk about getting talking therapies but if you have severe and complex mental health needs the therapy services will each refuse you and you will be bounced around services.

I have a psychotic illness. I have been detained in hospital more than once and have attempted suicide more than once. This history makes me too unwell to get therapy. Each part of the service has refused me whether it is specialist services like PTSD, mainstream psychotherapy services or CBT. I have been repeatedly told I am too unwell to be treated.

The referring teams in the Trust do not have any influence over the therapy teams so while they can refer, therapy teams seem to be able to cherry pick. Therapy in Camden seems to be only for the worried well or those who the service can show as having short term outcomes that can be measured and therefore funded. People like me are condemned to misery and torment and a life of heavy medication and repeated hospital admissions.

It is not surprising I wish I was dead much of the time as there is no hope.
