"Never again! I would rather be in pain then go..."

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

What I liked

Radiographers, registrars

What could be improved

Actual doctors looking at your results and not nurses. Pain relief being offered and not ignoring requests for them.

Anything else?

I broke my foot back in July. A&e seen me by nurses only no doctors looked at my case. I was sent home with a sprain after waiting 4.5 hours with no pain relief after asking for some. I was told to walk on it in 24 hours. It took the walk in centre to see me after my toes went blue before they actually diagnosed me with a fracture. It took A&E 4 days to ring me and say it was broken, by this time i had already been seen. I seen a registrar in the fracture clinic who was very nice, however the consultant dismissed her treatment plan and went with his own. After 8 weeks in cast I was still in pain, the consultant and his HCA made me feel as if this pain was in my head. I was so sick of this pain I asked to be referred to a different hospital, which I have been diagnosed with post arthritis which is cause by a incorrectly diagnosed and treatment for my fracture. I now have to have bone grafts and plates and screws put in my foot. This could have been prevented had the consultant A) listened to his registrar or B) A&E had looked at my X-rays correctly by a doctor which he would have seen I needed a CT scan.

I am very upset by both A&E and the consultant after all I have worked since I left school and paid my taxes all my working life and I don't think it would have been much to ask for me to be seen by an A&E doctor.
