What could be improved
Being told the truth about the delay what was and would happen. More beds or at least comfotable chairs for people having to sit for 10 hours and more
Anything else?
I would have taken him home so we could have been comfortable. My husband was sent there by his GP as a bed was not available in the ward he had been discharged from 3 days before. Our Gp visited him at around 1 pm advised us he needed to go to hospital to receive intro antibiotics. I took my husband by car a hard to handle wheelchair was given he was seen by a dr at about 4pm blood was taken from him to see what infection he may have and said that he would be taken to surgical assessment a bed was available there!! after my husband nearly fell out ot the wheel chair I asked when a bed would be available they did not know I suggested I take my jhusband home and return when they had ond was told he needed these antibiotics and they could not give them as he may have an adverse reaction and as a bed was not available they could not take a chance. This apparently was not the case. The sister in assessment said to me at about 10pm. He needed to be seen by an orthopaediac doctor before anitibiotics could be administered. He was seen by one at 11pm. At 11 30pm I left my husband in a ward with bed and hopefully he would have been treated with antibiotics!! Maybe In future I wil take my husband home and wait until called. I am diabetic with limited walking abilities and I found it an exhausting and distressing day
"In regards to that day initial treatment was very..."
