"orthopeadic treatment"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics Kirklees PCT

(as a relative),

a family member recently required orthopeadic surgery - living in huddersfield my relative was seen as an out patient by the consultant at the local hospital

however the operation needed was carried out at Calderdale (because no ops are now carried out at the local hospital). we had to be at Calderdale7.30 am where we sat for half an hour before my relative was seen by the consultant and admitted for surgery

my relatives was discharged extremlly quickly the following day - and was cared for very well - they were completely happy with the treatment rec'd whilst in hospital

however my relative was discharged and was told that they then had to attend an appt back at their local hospital to have the wound re-dressed

why is this - if this had of been done before discharge, my relative could have just gone home to re-coperate - as it was, we went home then had to visit the local hospital - again having to pay another car parking fee to have the wound re-dressed and see occupation health!

frustrating!
