I've been trying to get an appointment at the surgery for a fortnight now. My symptoms are not an "absolute emergency" (their words) but I'd like to see a doctor sooner rather than later.
They have a system where 50% of appointments are given on the day, and 50% booked in advance. There are no advance appointments until 6 May (3 weeks away) and there are only appointments today for "absolute emergencies". The one appointment they could offer me next week was not suitable because I work.
I think this system is particularly difficult for people who work - am I supposed to not go to work every morning so that I can wait in a phone queue (0844 number) on the off chance that I might get an appointment?
