Can anyone explain why certain consultants in this department keep putting off their patients appointments.?
I have a relative who is very ill with a flare up of ulcerative colitis. His appointment to see the consultant has been put back twice from September to December, and now from December to February. I find this totally unacceptable and no reasons are given.
The GP's are not specialists and do not seem to know what to do.
We were also recently advised he should not come into the medical assessment unit because of problems with the norovirus. What are infection control doing about it?
The telephone advice service provided by the specialist nurse is also problematic. There only appears to be one specialist nurse for the whole of East Lancashire who can only be contacted by telephone in the evenings. While I am sure she is doing her best she seems to be overworked.
