"Hospital good but falls down in many ways"

About: Broadgreen Hospital

What could be improved

Liaising with family very poor. Web site says patient and family kept informed at all times. This is not the case, I was not informed for 4 days after my husband had a quadruple by pass that he actually suffered a heart attack outside theatre and had to have heart massage and that all his major organs had failed. This left us in total devistation and false information had been given to us. We asked to see the surgeon and on the fifth day we were told everything.

Since being on i t u I have witnessed several things that could be classed as negligence and I have asked to speak to the ward doctor on several occasions

I must say the hospital is good at what they do re heart and lungs but my husband has severe diabetic complications and suffered unnecessary pain over 48 hours while I could get the information through to someone to get this pain sorted. I insisted and stayed with my husband in i t u until he was stable which was an unnecessary thing he shod have gone thru. This hospital certainly lets themselves down in a lot of ways.

Hello - thank you for your comment. The Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust does not run any inpatient cardiology services at Broadgreen Hospital. These services are run by the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital - you can contact them via their website http://www.lhch.nhs.uk/

We will advise NHS Choices that we do not run this service.

Thanks.
