"Could have been a lot better"

About: Lister Hospital

What I liked

Because the surgicentre is new it looked fresh and clean

What could be improved

The aftercare falls down and should be more caring and understanding

I was told I would get a follow up appointment to see how my procedure went!

It is now Almost December some 5 months on and still no one has bothered to send me a follow up appointment

My surgery only took place when it did because I kept complaining and in the end I rang every day until they sorted it out

When I do see a consultant at the pain clinic I am not listened to and ushered in and out within minutes this is supposed to be a two way care plan to help me deal with my daily pain, well it's a shambles I feel no one cares in the NHS it's all about budgets I wish I could go private I once got referred to a private as waiting lists were too long well it was a million miles away from how the NHS treat you

Anything else?

The surgicentre need to stop losing files and also make sure people get seen and are not on the waiting list for nearly a year. Their aftercare is a joke. Get rid of the contractors and get someone else or take back in house either way it needs more staff

Just so you know, the Surgicentre - although on the Lister hospital site - is owned and run by the private sector company Clinicenta Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Carillion plc. The unit carries out routine day case and short-stay surgery for NHS patients under contract to NHS Hertfordshire (the name of the local primary care trust). As such, we have no responsibility for the service or how it is run, but we will ensure that your feedback is passed to the Surgcientre team.
