What I liked
The staff worked well as a team and were efficient.
What could be improved
The ED clinic, and other clinics, are nurse led and the hospital does not employ any male specialist nurses in the department. The hospital has a policy to treat its patients with dignity and respect but does not identify gender of the nurse or clinician as having an impact on patient modesty or dignity. .
This policy should allow them to employ male nurses (genuine occupational qualification exemptions) in situations such as a male-only clinic where you are presenting and discussing intimate care.
Due to this lack of respect for men, and the assumption that a female nurse is acceptable to every patient, I was unable to discuss all my care needs in single sessions, often having to rebook or wait to squeeze in to see a male clinician who had no knowledge of me or my care until they read it one minute earlier.
