My boy has attended a the Bridgton Sure Start child development centre for the past 2 years. Eventually he was referred to an autism team and we still are waiting.
I was informed due to a government initiative my son should be seen between 6 and 18 weeks, this was several months ago.
I have phoned and left several messages and no one returns my calls - so much for early intervention.
When I did speak to a doctor several months ago, they said a diagnosis wasn't that important and wouldn't assist my son. I was extremely angered by their opinion. I'm aware a diagnosis will not help him to navigate life but, as it stands I cannot access certain voluntary organisations and have zero support from social services.
