What I liked

Having had an awful experience with my first baby 11 years ago at a neighbouring hospital, I was nervous about my impending labour. However I can not praise the labour ward enough, they were absolutely amazing and made the whole experience a joy! The midwife and senior were fantastic, communicated everything that was going on and reassured me no end. I wish I had had my first baby here! Have also visited the hospital again since and have no end of praise for it, always clean and staff always courteous.

What could be improved

My only tiny gripe would be the scanning appointments - over an hour behind on all 3 occasions, whilst the reception did inform me of this on arrival some kind of system to keep patients updated would be good as room becomes very crowded and when your heavily pregnant and its hot it is quite frustrating!!!

Thank you very much for your comments about our maternity service. We are glad that your experience was such a positive one.

With regard to your comments about the ultrasound department, you will be pleased to hear that we are currently involved in a project that should address your concerns. We are aware that the department is over crowded during periods of high activity and we are hoping that the planned changes will improve the waiting environment. We are also planning an information system that will update clients on the waiting time. Once again thank you for your comments which the matron for the area will make sure are passed onto the staff.
