"Traumatic and I never want to go that hospital..."

About: University Hospital Of North Tees

What I liked

??

What could be improved

Cleaning all areas of ward more thorough and especially bays. Bed rails, televisions, door handles should be cleaned everyday with disinfectant and some sort of toilet disinfectant should be supplied in toilets for patients to wipe toilet seats before they use toilet, as there could possible have been an infected patient using toilet before them. Observation equipment should be cleaned between each patient due to passing on infection. Doctors should make sure they wash hands before and after they see each patient and also that they make sure each patient sees this. They should also glove and gown up before seeing each patient.

Anything else?

I have contracted MRSA at North Tees Hospital due to either a Doctor/Surgeon not following hand hygiene or the bay/ward I was in not being clean. I am very annoyed at this, as I have had to pay for numerous prescriptions to try and rid me of this awful infection!! and have not got the money for this, I was a HCA but since been sacked due to me knowing when I was going to able to return to work!! Something needs to be done about MRSA and the way it is infecting unfortunate people like myself, and if it means that I have to go top the person to make a complaint, I will!!

We are sorry you felt let down by your stay in hospital. We pride ourselves on our standards of cleanliness so we are naturally surprised and disappointed to discover that this was not what you experienced. Thank you for your comments which we will take on board in the interests of future patients. If you wish to have a discussion about aspects of your own care please contact our patient advice and liaison office who will be happy to help you. You can do this by emailing PALS.NT@nth.nhs.uk.
