"Waiting to hear about medication for my mother (a dementia patient)"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital / Older people's healthcare South Staffordshire And Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health South Staffordshire PCT Stafford Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

After deteriorating rapidly my Mother, after two weeks in hospital, was transferred to Hawkesyard Care Home in March 2012.

An appointment came through from MAC (South Staffordshire Memory Service) for July 2012. An hour long appointment with my Mum, myself and a lady from the service happened, during which time she felt that my Mum would benefit from two extra tablets. She said she would keep me informed.

Neither the home or I have heard anything since, until another appointment has come through for late December. On ringing MAC to find out why nothing had happened since the first visit, the person at the end of the phone was very matter of fact, but couldn't answer my queries. He suggested me ringing someone else in the team.

I am not happy with this service, especially as the suggested tablets could have improved Mum's standard of life.

Dear Sammie10. Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

We are very sorry that your mother's case has not been followed up. Vicky Rowley is the Commissioner in charge of overseeing the MAC UK contract and is very keen to look into why your mother and yourself did not hear anything for 5 months.

In order to investigate further, we would be grateful if you would contact Vicky on her land line (01785 895123) or on her mobile (07976191331). Vicky is looking forward to hearing from you.
