In January, this year I was told by my doctor that I had sciatica. When the pain didn't go away with painkillers I was referred to a physiotherapist. I was then told it wasn't sciatica but arthritis in my lower back. I was given exercises to do which didn't help. I then saw a pain doctor, who has now referred me to the spinal unit. I phoned and asked if I would be given a scan to find out the precise problem and was told if they thought I needed one I would go on a waiting list! I've been on numerous pain-killers, which do nothing for my pain and as this has gone on since January, I am at my lowest ebb.
