"Sciatica attack"

About: Halton and St Helens PCT / Community physiotherapy

(as the patient),

Extreme pain down left leg from buttocks to lower calf, first time I had experienced pain of such intensity. I lived on strong pain killers for several days, went to see my GP who prescribed Naproxen anti-inflammatory tablets, these kicked in about 5 to 7 days after the initial attack.

I waited two weeks for MRI scan on lumbar region of my back which confirmed I had two bulging discs. I self certified a request for physiotherapy on the advice of my GP. This took three weeks before I was seen.

Physiotherapy and the anti-inflammatory tablets have gradually improved the situation. I still get the odd niggle but hopefully the exercises and tablets will keep the problem at bay.
