I have been ill for over a decade with a variety of issues which started when I was 25. I saw several consultants including neurologists, rheumatologists, gastroenterologists etc and no one was able to successfully diagnose me. Subsequently I had two independant tests carried out (one in Switzerland at a european renowned lab) which both confirmed I had Lyme Disease. The symptoms are classic as well as test results such as vitamin D defficiency. Subsequent anbtibiotics have helped a lot but there is still no consultant out there that seems to be able to understand 'chronic lyme disease' (ie fairly persistent disease that can result when people haven't been treated within a certain amount of time). The prevalence is on the rise so it is crucial that awareness is raised amongst doctors. I just hope this doesn't come too late.
