What I liked

The receptionist was always happy and pleasant, even under pressure.

What could be improved

Waiting 8 hours in a&e whilst my dad was seen to, from arriving, having a scan and blood test and waiting for results took 8 hours! We arrived 6.30pm, left at 2.30am. My parents are not in good health and this did them no good whatsoever. 8 hours is unacceptable..

Anything else?

More staff needed on a&e.

Emergency Department Consultant Sarah Pearson said: "We are sorry to learn of the unacceptably long wait you and your parents experienced while being treated in our department recently.

"Whilst we do try our hardest to move people through as quickly as possible, on occasions, especially when the hospital is exceptionally busy as it has been in recent months, tests and results do take longer than usual to process.

"It would be very helpful in this instance to know the exact date and time that you attended so we can look further into the possible reasons behind the delays which may help to prevent this from happening in the future.

"Your comments have been shared with senior members of the nursing team, including the patient experience lead, so they are aware of your concerns and can consider any changes which could be made to alleviate the waiting times for patients.
