"My 88 year old brother-in-law has trouble getting to the doctor"

About: Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT

(as a relative),

He lives on his own in Ashford, Kent.

He is currently suffering from badly swollen feet, which prevent him from walking or even putting shoes on. When he phoned the Doctor's surgery to ask if/when the Doctor could come out to see him, the receptionist told him that the Doctor did not make house calls, and he should get into the Surgery. When he explained that he could neither walk or get his shoes on, the receptionist told him to get a taxi. He said he couldn't afford that!

I am in France, so I can't get to him to help, and his friend who has a car is ill at the moment. Any suggestions would be very welcome i. e. does the local Age UK have any transport that could be called upon in this instance, please?
