"Community Mental Health Team (Plymouth)"

About: Livewell Southwest

(as the patient),

I was referred to the team about three years ago, and due to the escalation in my behaviour am now under the care of a psychiatrist, CPN, psychologist and often use the out of hours phone line, Gateway to Mental Health.

The treatment I have received has been outstanding. Therapies I have received in the past have always not only been useful and helpful, but are always centred towards my recovery and tools to help.

My psychiatrist is excellent, he is very human, which helps, and does not talk in terms of diagnosis which I have found unhelpful in the past (hey, who needs another label! ), the medication I have been prescribed has been altered due to my own feedback, and is not just given as a matter of course.

My CPN is brilliant. Not only supportive, and extremely trustworthy (he has made regular weekly visits to me for over a year), he also challenges my negative self beliefs and assumptions. He does this in a kind and intelligent way, which helps me to understand the world and myself better.

Though I have a long way to go to be 'better', I know that I will be better one day. I look forward to that time, and though I know I will miss those who have helped me along the way, it is only with their help that I am getting towards that point.

You simply could not pay for better care and support.
