I was referred to weight loss management after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
I was asked if I would go and see an active lifestyles advisor which my GP referred.
My date arrived, I was very nervous and in two minds whether to keep the appointment.
I was called into this room, by Lee my active lifestyles advisor. He put me at ease form the start. We talked, he weighed me, took my blood pressure and asked what activities I did. I said nothing.
I meet him on a monthly basis, my health was poor at the time but he supported me through and encouraged me.
For example, I live in a flat. I used to really out of breath but after walking further and going to aqua aerobics the stairs have become easier to climb.
6 months later I have lost 26llbs in weight, down a couple of dress sizes and feeling healthier and being discharged because I have lost 5% of my body weight.
The worst bits is being weighed and not seeing Lee any more. The best bits is having support from lee, Rose and the other staff. I was never made to feel ashamed as to how I looked etc.
What should change? I should still be seeing Lee just to have his support and encouragement.
Thank you Lee I am very grateful for your help and support.
