What could be improved

Terrible, terrible, terrible service.

My wife visited A&E on Monday evening with an abscess / infection under her arm. We waited around for over 3 hours to be informed that she must return the following day to have it removed via surgery. In addition to this, my wife, who was / is in pain might i add had to be nil by mouth. Fair comment.

We received a phone call the next morning asking us to come in for 12pm. We did and duly waited in the hospital ward that we were placed in (The Allen ward). First we were told 3pm, then 5pm, then 7pm, then 9pm and then tomorrow. My wife had to stop in overnight. All this time my wife had had no food as she was nil by mouth.

The next day, my wife was told that she would probably have to wait all day once again in the hope that she would be operated on. She asked if she could have a visitor to keep her company. No was the reply. She asked if she could be brought some items to keep her occupied. No was the reply.

At the time of writing she is still waiting. We are not daft, we know that things come up in hostpitals, but this treatment is not good enough. You would not treat animals the way my wife has been treat. To say that we actually pay taxes towards this service is alarming.

Sorry to be so negative but we have been left, shocked, appalled and total despondent with the level of service provided. The doctor said that the operation itself would only take 15 minutes.
