What I liked

The staff were very comforting and supportive and provided excellent medical care when I broke my wrist, despite the department being busy and somewhat chaotic (it was Saturday night!) The staff always had time to listen to concerns and explain the surgery which was required to repair my arm. The break was as a result of an assault and the staff were very sympathetic about the shock this had caused me and went to every length to make me comfortable during a particularly unpleasant evening in my life. I cannot thank them enough!

When I had the surgery in the day unit, the staff again impressed me with their concern and compassion, particularly that shown by the anaesthetist (I was very scared about being put to sleep) but he made me feel much more comfortable and the support I received from him and in recovery was exceptional. I have been to several hospitals for surgery in my life and can say without doubt Durham university hospital is the place you want to end up if bad things are happening for you health wise. Thank you again and huge congratulations on your world class service!

Nothing - please provide training and input to other NHS trusts to develop all services to this excellent standard.
