"Son's Accident"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital

(as a carer),

My son fell from his bedroom window (he crawled through the bars) when he was 21 months old - September 2005. He was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital and later that day transferred to Pendlebury Children's Hospital.

I cannot praise the staff at Wythenshawe's A & E dept enough for what they did that morning. They saved my son's life during that first 'golden hour' by stabilising him and taking every precaution that they could to ensure that his condition didn't deteriorate. We shall always be grateful to them for this and for their sensitive handling of our situation.

Our son has a development delay as a result of his accident, and he had to learn to walk again. But he's doing extremely well considering the nature of his injury (a horrendous skull fracture). The care was superb.
