About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

What could be improved

It is a sprawling development, and on the whole rather shabby and drafty.

The doctors I visited have pre-madonna like attitudes and were rude and not thorough with absolutely no follow through. The hygiene standards were somewhat lacking, at one point I was being poked with needles without the skin sterilization taking place. When admitted to hospital the doctor made a mistake when inserting a urinary catheter, soaking the bed in urine, it took 2 hours before someone came and cleaned it up.

Lastly and more importantly, when treating people with chronic condition, the doctors concerned need to emphasis prevention and tests not crisis management and then almost immediately discharging the patient to soon be readmitted with the same progressively deteriorating condition.

The Emergency Department and critical functions need to be decentralized so patients do not have to travel and hour and a half to be admitted to hospital.

Anything else?

This institution as does the trust needs far more patient oversight to improve the situation.
