"Excellent service ."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

What I liked

Although I only visited the QE for a pre op appointment I found the service from the nurses and the Doctor was excellent .

What could be improved

Waiting time could have been improved as the way I look at it is if I have been good enough to

get there on time then thats when I should be seen. Also I feel I must mention is the fact that smoking is still being allowed outside the hospital doors and you have to walk through a stream

of smoke to get in the hospital and there is dog ends all over the pavement which is disgusting.

why also is there a fruit and vegetable store outside the doors I didnt realise that patients needed vegetables, lettuces, cucumbers etc it is rather stupid as this sought of thing could cause vermin both these matters are health problems and should be addressed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

We are very pleased that overall you have had such a positive experience whilst visiting the Pre-Admission Clinic at our hospital. It is a real morale boost for staff to receive feedback like this from patients. It means such a lot to know that the hard work, dedication and commitment of our staff is recognised and valued in this way. It is also very satisfying for staff to hear they have made such a difference to patients and made sure your experience under our care has been positive. Your feedback has been passed on to the senior managers of the area that you visited; they will ensure it is shared with their teams.

We are sorry however that that you weren’t seen on time for your appointment, please be reassured that we do aim to see all of our patients in a timely manner. We are currently reviewing and updating our appointment times, ensuring that patients who have complex medical histories are given an adequate amount of time to spend with the nurses, and not overrunning into other clinic appointments.

Your comments regarding the smoking, dog mess and Fruit and Vegetable stall have also been shared with the relevant senior staff.

We understand the importance of the external environment and the impression this can give patients and visitors visiting the hospital. All external entrances are cleaned daily in the morning and are re-inspected every afternoon with any dog mess removed and the area cleaned if required.

Smoking outside the main entrance to the hospital remains an ongoing concern for us, we are working hard to resolve this, including providing a smoking area for patients and visitors situated away from the entrance.

The Fruit and Vegetable stall has been a very popular addition to the hospital and is valued by patients, staff and visitors. It complies fully with health and safety regulations and the area is cleaned at the end of the day to ensure there is no rubbish or food left lying around. The stall is also monitored carefully to ensure there are no issues caused by its’ presence.

We do appreciate that some of our initiatives will not suit everyone and appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention.
