What I liked

Overall I had a very very good experience, especially in A & E and then in the assessment unit. I have bi-polar so these situations can be a nightmare but I coped OK, mostly because of the staff. The nurse I had over-night in assessment(?) was amazing; it can't be easy to make such an impression on a patient who keeps drifting off and waking up again. I had total faith in her even when I was convinced I was about to die; not that any other nurse wasn't professional but I interacted with this nurse more. I also noticed that doctors and other bed visitors made an effort to smile and acknowledge you when this was less slightly less likely in the past. It makes a huge difference. The porters were also very professional and friendly. A 9.99..... out of ten overall.

What could be improved

Apart from a later infection, which happens... the only issue was when I was being moved from assessment to a ward. I mentioned that I needed some more Omeprazole to the nurse who tailed me as I was getting heartburn again. I was told that this could be sorted once I was relocated; but, once I was on the ward I was told that I wasn't allowed to take any more until 6pm. I think a quick phone call to the assessment unit (?) would have been an idea at this point as they had said to shout if I got worse. I knew what was about to happen if I started retching again so it was a bit frustrating, This may be a result of a perfectly normal procedure which I know nothing about, and I didn't feel in danger at all. But, I felt an explanation or double check could have been helpful or reassuring.
