"Efficient, caring, good humoured and excellent..."

About: Kettering General Hospital

What I liked

I was an inpatient for a week and was highly impressed with the way I was looked after at A&E and on the wards, Middleton and Harrowden. I felt there was something quite special in the culture at Kettering General in the way the ward teams worked together and supported one another and looked after those in their care with kindness, good humour and exemplary teamwork.

And the food also gets a thumbs up from me - a good, varied and tasty menu and always served covered in heat retaining dishes which kept it warm, a simple but effective initiative I've not seen in other hospitals.

What could be improved

Just that the lunch and teatime meals were quite close, maybe four hours apart, so I didn't always feel ready for the latter - and it's a long time then 'til breakfast.

Anything else?

It's often the small details that make a big difference, and clearly a lot of thought has been put into the processes at Kettering General for which I compliment all concerned. I also found the fact sheets I was given very helpful and intuitive and written in language I could understand.
