"all in all i was very underwhelmed by the service..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

What I liked

some of the staff where lovely

What could be improved

attitudes from some staff.

Im 44 and i felt vunerable, tired, etc. Some of the staff where rude to t the point i was told to complain by another member of staff.

hygiene. if someone is growing mold on their glasses i think we can guess what her hygeine was like. Plus she kept asking me if i wanted to buy phones of her.

dont just add to my medication and not tell me why ,what its for etc

things like diet should be sorted out straight away , im diabetic and on a low residue diet three days before i saw a dietician.

i could go on and on but what you really need is a patient board where some common sense can be used. see below

Anything else?

twice i was admitted during august, twice i spent all my time on wards that had nothing to do with my complaint. I saw one gastro reg there during that time. Twice i was sent home because no-one could help me there. I ended up at manchester royal.

That bed i used during those times could have been used for someone who needed it not for someone waiting to see a gastro consultant. though i was given a sigmoid because my consultant asked for it.

your use of resources is blindingly comical.

Also meds where given wrongly, as it was it was just picolax but what if it was something that could have affected me.

i was nil by mouth from 10 pm and got the sigmoid at 11.30 pm. Not good for a new diabetic with blood sugars of 21-24 id have said. Plus when i got back my specially ordered meal had been given away.

i was denied my own medicine being told uc patients didnt need senna by a nurse.
