What I liked

I was really well looked after, the nurses and doctors were very efficient and friendly.

What could be improved

Just having the patients names over the bed would have helped enormously. A technician came to see how my diabetic levels were, I do not have diabetes, he had the wrong patient. Another nurse came in and said to me, hello Derek, my name is not Derek.

I noticed on my chart someone had written down Laxatives, I spoke to the doctor who crossed it out, the laxatives were meant for another patient.

I am lucky, I know what is going on around me but there were patients who were 'out of it' what would have happened then, they would not have been able to tell the nurse/doctor they had the wrong patient, it is frightening to think of what might have happened.

Anything else?

The nurses and doctors did a fantastic job but were run off their feet, they have their jobs to do but when patients keep calling out for something and nothing, it throws their system out totally, perhaps more auxiliaries on the wards may help to deal with the minor details and let the nurses and doctors get on with their jobs.
