"Good surgery and care - less keen on the food"

Having been treated with radiotherapy and chemotherapy to reduce the size of a rectal cancer I was given, due to previous ulcerative colitis, a pan-proctocolectomy and left with an ileostomy (and some further preventative chemotherapy). I was on Meldon Ward.
I felt my care throughout the process was very good (both surgery and oncology) and I came out of the process relatively well. The nursing staff were efficient but obviously busy and the hospital itself was clean (and still modern).
The after-care from the Stoma Care team has been excellent.
Curious though how the food is shipped into the hospital rather than being prepared on site. Just when you need maximum nourishment you get mass produced stuff shipped in from a factory and reheated. Mealtimes weren't a treat.
