"Confused at options after testicular removal"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I went to A&E due to a groin injury and in severe pain.

I was then informed I had a ruptured testicle. I was kept in for several days and finally went to surgery. I had to have the testicle surgically removed.

I was discharged and had to chase up a follow up consultation with the specialist for several months. Finally when I received this I was informed that the spermatic cord on the right side would have to be removed, which I thought would have been normal.

After six months of agony and losing my job, I was back in Bolton Royal for a second operation and when I had come round from surgery I was informed that the reason for my pain for so long was that part of my testicle (which was meant to have been removed) was still there and attached to a tied-off spermatic cord. I'm no specialist but if the blood supply is tied off, any part of the testicle that is not meant to be there would be dead after so long.

I still get pains in my scrotum and I had a prosthetic testicle implanted. I am really confused about the level of care being met, and as a result of the time off work I lost my job.

If somebody could advise me as what my options maybe, I would be very grateful thanks.

My first operation was in January 2012 and my second operation was in June 2012.
