"Unhappy with communication on emergency admissions unit"

About: University Hospital Of North Tees / General medicine

(as the patient),

Went to One Life Hartlepool and was sent to North Tees Hospital after being short of breath.

I feel I was not examined properly, no medication given even though asthmatic, not even the medication their dr wrote me up for. No food. Windows open as next patient had a temperature, no blanket.

I was told I would be going home. It got to about 23:45, I walked out and told the ward manager I was off. They said the plan was never to discharge me, not in the notes. I told them the drs who had gone home and nurses who were still there (and they confirmed it) said I was going home.

They knew nowt about it but hurriedly gave me my 10pm meds which I had not had and said I would have to sign a form in case they ended up in a coroners court. They asked the registrar if I could go, who did not come and see me. They said I could but I still had to discharge myself.

The ward manager said "we have too many patients, not enough staff and our communication with each other is bad" - hardly a professional medical establishment.

Had I just sat quiet with none of my meds I already take, I would have got worse and worse as no one kept an eye on me, as I was supposed to be going home.
