What I liked
Regular (2-4 times weekly for 2 months) ante-natal care on the ward/day unit was good, kudos to the ladies running the day unit who stayed late just for me and got me let off from the parking charge after my blood test results got delayed.
Postnatal care was fantastic, lots of help, my baby had a few issues with maintaining his temperature and everything was done to help him.
Due to my fast and panicked delivery I didn't even know who my delivery midwife was - she came onto the ward the next day and talked to me about what happened which allowed me to make sense of everything.
Delivery unit was nice, clean and spacious.
HCA's were very helpful and friendly both on the ward and in the delivery unit.
The limited visiting hours was very good and allowed lots of rest and recovery time without being bothered by lots of strangers visiting others on the ward.
What could be improved
My only issue is the fact that I was a high risk patient being induced and during the night my blood pressure was not checked (despite me being awake and pestering the midwife for pain relief several times), when it was finally checked it was very high which turned everything into a panic and my delivery turned into an emergency - I was looked after faultlessly from this point with lots of staff involved with my care but I feel that it wouldn't have been like that if I had been monitored during the night.
Anything else?
I would happily use the service again, I was high risk and probably a lot of work for all the staff involved but I was looked after very well.
"Very good in general"
