What I liked

I am 31 weeks pregnant, and have had two scans and two clinic appointments (each involving a health care assistant, a doctor and a midwife - I am under specialist care due to anti-immune condition) at Royal Berks so far.

Although there is inevitably a short waiting period for each appointment, the waiting areas are fine and staff are very courteous. Everyone that has provided care during my appointments has been fantastic - I haven't felt rushed, and have been encouraged to ask questions about the pregnancy at all stages.

Having finally got around to watching the Royal Berks DVD that I was given by my community midwife, I am now considering using the midwife assisted unit rather than the delivery suite, and would like to use the birthing pool (possibly only for pain relief/relaxation rather than to give birth). Having read a range of reviews about the maternity unit online, it does appear a lot of the negative reviews are very old, and based on my experiences so far at RBH, I feel confident about the unit as my choice for giving birth.
