"This department is disgraceful and treats patients..."

About: St James's University Hospital

What I liked

The nurses were friendly and clearly doing their best - they were in agreement about the arrogant attitude of some of the consultants.

What could be improved

It is a disgrace. I have now been waiting over 6 months for a routine endoscopy. They cancelled my appointment at short notice, and when I couldn't make the date they gave me instead because my partner was on a training course and couldn't be there to take me home after the sedation, the admin person was rude to me and just told me I'd have to wait for another letter. The consultant I saw the second time I went in (the one I saw first was nice) was condescending, patronising, cut me off and didn't listen. I came out of there in tears - I have had years of gastro problems and I just want to know what's wrong with me and I can't even get a simple test from them. Disgusting and I will be complaining formally.

Anything else?

How on earth can it take six months for a routine test? Really? I'd love to know.
