"Just don't go to Wycombe, use hospital choice and..."

About: Wycombe Hospital

What I liked

My father was put in isolation because he had previously had hospital acquired MRSA. The room had chipped plaster on the walls, dirty marks where a cupboard was removed and was generally very depressing. He was not moved back to the ward when he was given the all clear. Dad was medically fit for discharge for 10 days whilst efforts were made to get a care package. He arrived home at 9pm after discharge, and no care was in place. In fact, if I had not been able to get to him and cook a meal he would not have had any food for the first 24 hour.

My brother was on holiday and he was told that Dad had been discharged when he was moved to a different ward in the same hospital.

Awful surroundings, some staff doing a great job, no co-ordination between discharge co-ordinator and other agencies. My father will not be going here again!

What could be improved

Environment needs improvement. The privacy curtains are material and should be replaced with disposable ones to control infections. Lack of communication and treating the whole patient!

Anything else?

I thought the newspaper reports of poor treatment for the elderly were eagerated. Unfortunately, Wycombe hospital proved that it does happen, which is totally unacceptable.
