"Don't drop the DAFNE"

About: Northampton General Hospital (Acute) / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

Why have Northampton PCT withdrawn the funding for a life changing course for those with type one insulin dependent diabetes? This course lasts one week and is delivered by the diabetes care team at Northampton.

It is a pioneering move in terms of diabetes management and i learnt from this things I have not learned in 28 years of diabetes.

DAFNE is a course which is renowned in Europe for minimising the "financial drain" on the health service particularly in later life for diabetes related complications.

This course is a right of a diabetic person not a privelege. Who gives the PCT the right to stop the dissemination of this information?

Northampton PCT understands the important role that DAFNE plays.

For this reason we are using funding we have received to continue the DAFNE programme this year.
