About: Croydon University Hospital

What I liked

My daughter, aged 14, attended the Dolphins Unit for surgery, and from the Pre-Op visit to the day of surgery, she was treated with kindness and patience throughout. The ward sister, consultant and anaesthetist all explained clearly what would be happening, fully included my daughter in the discussions and patiently answered her questions about her stay and treatment, and reassured her over her concerns.

On the day of surgery, we were kept fully informed on each next step, and were visited post op several times by both the consultant and the anaesthetist. The nurses were very caring, always explained what they were doing, and keen to ensure that my daughter's post op pain was managed.

We were given very clear instructions on what to expect and do on discharge, which was completed with the minimum of delay.

Whilst we were waiting in the unit we watched the cleaner, and she made a real effort to get into every corner, with no skimping evident. Beds were stripped and remade as they were vacated, leaving the ward looking fresh and tidy all the time we were there.
