I recently went into the NHS Direct Emergency Centre in Nottingham awaiting a consultation for a throat infection. But while waiting, I passed out and was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre. I was very grateful to all who treated me at the Queen's Medical Centre, as they did so in a very prompt, efficient and kindly way. However, I do feel that the whole incident could have been avoided if I could have had treatment for my infection in my own village, and not have had to travel into Nottingham when I felt so ill. The car journey made me feel very sick and, I think, added to the problem.
