"Good general care but poor hygiene at Royal Hallamshire"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Ward K2 of the Sheffield Royal Hallamshire Hospital, where I was waiting for a pancreatic duodectomy. On the whole, the standard of nursing care was very good, as was the surgery. But unfortunately, some of the nurses were not as good as others.

My chief concern was with the hygiene of the hospital - there was a sincere lack of cleanliness. At one point, I asked for a change of commode (as I was having a problem with constipation) and I had to argue the point to get one.

In general, though, I was satisfied with the service. and would like to thank all the staff on K2 and the surgical team who operated on me.
